The phone is pointed at the pavement. A pair of boots stalks toward it in time with the beat, then a whisper: "Takin' a picture of, takin' a picture of me!" The camera whips up and there's a witch, a princess or a whole coven striking a pose. If that's been all over your feed this October, this is the Ramalama trend. Here's what it is, where it came from, and how to join in.

What is the Ramalama trend?
The Ramalama trend, also called the Ramalama costume walk, is a TikTok format for showing off a costume. You film your own legs and shoes walking toward the camera, hold the suspense for a few seconds, and reveal the whole outfit on the song's whispered line. It's quick to film, works solo or in a group, and it has become one of the go-to ways to post a Halloween costume.
New Engen ranks the Ramalama Costume Walk #2 in its list of TikTok trends for October 2026.
What song is it?
The sound is "Ramalama (Bang Bang)" by Róisín Murphy, from her 2005 album Ruby Blue. It's a real, human-made song from two decades ago, not an AI track. The line everyone waits for is the whisper, "Takin' a picture of, takin' a picture of me!", which is the cue for the reveal.
About 430,700 TikTok videos used the sound as of October 9, 2026, according to RouteNote.
The format, beat by beat
- The stalk. The phone is held low, filming legs and shoes as one or more people walk toward the camera in time with the beat. This lasts about 6–7 seconds.
- The whisper. "Takin' a picture of, takin' a picture of me!"
- The reveal. On the whisper, the camera tilts or whips up to show the full costume.
- The pose. Posing, waving, a twirl, or each friend getting their moment in turn.
The caption that usually goes with it is a playful challenge: "Did I win this trend?"

The witch trio that made it huge
@leodibaa started the walk, but the video most people picture is @swaggy_cucumber's trio from October 1, 2025: three witches stalking down a sidewalk at night, the camera tilting up on the whisper, then the leader in the centre and each friend on either side getting their moment. At 94.1M views, it turned the Ramalama walk into the group-costume format of Halloween 2025.

Why did it take off?
- Built-in suspense. Seconds of shoes and then a big reveal is a tiny story with a payoff, and people watch to the end to see the costume.
- A cue nobody misses. The whisper tells you exactly when the reveal happens, so it's easy to film and satisfying to watch.
- It's made for costumes. Halloween outfits take effort, and this format shows the whole look in one shot.
- Solo or squad. One person can do it, and group themes (witches, a storybook cast) make it even better.
- The artist joined in. Róisín Murphy posting her own version in October 2025 gave the trend a nod from the source.
- It came back. As Halloween 2026 approached, new looks like a ball gown and gold body paint pulled in millions of views again.

Not the same as RamaLama, the open-source tool
If you searched "ramalama ai", you may also have found RamaLama by Red Hat (ramalama.ai), an open-source tool for running AI models locally. It has nothing to do with the song or the costume walk. Ramalama AI, the site you're on, makes costume-walk videos.
How to join the trend
Film it yourself. Get dressed up, hand someone your phone (or hold it low yourself), walk toward the camera on the beat, and tilt up on the whisper. Add the "Ramalama (Bang Bang)" sound in TikTok so your video shows up on the sound's page.
Make it from a photo. No costume, no friend to film, or no time? Ramalama AI turns one clear photo into the walk, with you in one of ten Halloween costumes or your own outfit:
- Solo: a 14-second whole walk or a 10-second cut, following a daylight witch walk in a theme-park plaza.
- Squad: 2–3 friends in matching costumes, a 15-second whole walk or a 10-second cut, following the night-sidewalk witch trio.
The reveal lands on the whisper, and you can download it with the song or silent, to add the TikTok sound yourself. Single videos start at $4.99 with no account; credit packs are on the pricing page. The step-by-step guide walks you through it, and the costume ideas help you pick a look.
Ramalama AI is an independent tool, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Róisín Murphy, her label, TikTok, CapCut, Red Hat or any of the creators of the trend videos.
